Programs
At CHCCC we have a range of day care programs to suit individual families’ needs. We also run a variety of community programs for families and parents to learn new tips and tricks, or just to relax and have a laugh at the end of the day. CHCCC staff’s skill and professionalism have made our organization a leading voice in childcare and a recognized champion for our community.
Cypress Hills Family Daycare Network Program
The Cypress Hills Family Day Care Network (FDCN) was our first initiative and flourishes today, serving 540 children. FDCN is a network of family child care providers, each of which operates as a small business that also serves as an economic advancement vehicle for local women. Our program provides low-income women in Cypress Hills and East New York the technical assistance needed to open their own licensed family child care business. The model capitalizes on the provider’s child rearing skills to provide care in a family-like setting in their own home. We help women acquire their family day care license by helping them navigate the licensing process and provide ongoing training to help them grow and sustain their businesses. The network runs with both English- and Spanish-dominant options.
Cypress Hills Child Care Center
The state-of-the-art Child Care Center, located at 108 Pine Street, opened in 2000 after a large-scale renovation project. It serves up to 70 children ages 2-and-a-half to 5 years old, in four classrooms through a contract with the New York City Department of Education, which includes a 3K and Pre-K for All/ Universal Pre Kindergarten program. Our 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. extended day allows parents to leave knowing that their children will be cared for in a safe and loving environment with dedicated bilingual staff — one that includes a large outdoor play area.
Cypress Hills Head Start Program
The Head Start Family Day Care program provides comprehensive child development and family services, which are the heart of the Head Start model, in a family day care setting for up to 82 very low-income children and their families. Our Head Start program prepares some of the nation’s most vulnerable young children to succeed in school and in life beyond school. To achieve this, we deliver services to children and families in core areas of early learning, health, and family well-being while engaging parents as partners every step of the way.
